Well, things are coming along right now.....so many things have been going on since February...moved our home, lost job & found a new (hopefully better) one {THANK YOU, LORD!!}, dealt with a death in the family, and just trying to keep everything straight. I hope I can get back into my routine soon but who knows with this new job...I work weekends & nights now -- which is new to me -- but we are paying the bills and surviving so I can't complain!

So much has been going on lately -- losing job -- finding new job - getting ready to move - Mardi Gras -- so much that I haven't had time to upload any photos or even think about my hobby.....Hopefully I can get back on track soon -- maybe by the time I get back, I'll have lots of new pics to share!

I did not take this top photo. It is a picture of my brother taken by someone else. I decided to play around with the GIMP program since I've been working in it a bit. See below for the result...

It's nothing fancy...but I had fun playing with all the special effects and thought that this one stood out.

I also added some names and borders to several of my B&W photos. I haven't had time to do much but at least I got some practice in this week... :o)

Trenton was exploring the back yard since it was so warm outside yesterday. Finally, a warm day!

I love this pic. Trenton loves his bathtime. When he saw the old clawfoot tub, he ran to it, yelling "Baa". He thought he would get to take a bath until he found out it was filled with dirt.

This is a reworked copy of one that I posted earlier. I was working with the color & contrast -- I think it stands out more this way...what do you think?

Picture of the sunset taken two weeks ago -- there are several spots that I pass on my way home every day that I wish I could just park there and watch the world go by. It's so beautiful!

Picture of a birdnest taken in a church yard down the road from my home. We go down the road every now and then to watch the two deer that feed there -- it's so quiet and they aren't afraid - they just look at you and go back to eating. The kids were watching the deer and I got preoccupied with the trees and surroundings, as usual. :-)

I finally got my camera going again...Hallelujah! I hope to go out this weekend and take more pictures if possible. We'll see how it goes....Check back in the next week or so!

A New Day

This is my grandfather's 911 name plate on the fence around his house. I took this picture back in December. I changed it to B&W and blew it up, framed it and gave it to him the other day. A couple people asked me why I was taking pictures of signs and random stuff for no reason. I have no answer to that question and it's funny to see the wierd looks they give me...just because they don't see the beauty or the simplicity in random stuff that I seem to see now. I can't explain it when they ask or even feel the need to (which is a new feeling for me). But, I thought it was pretty in a frame so I put it out there. Who knows what I will come up with next? LOL

It's funny how some of the best pics you can take (well, especially my kids) turn out to be the ones when they're not paying attention to what I'm doing. A friend of mine also takes really good pics of them but she can actually catch them looking at the camera and they still look good.

Since driving a new way to work, I have gotten many opportunities for sunrise and sunset photos. I find myself looking forward to these opportunities because it's really awesome to see the sights that the Lord can create. The spot shown in the picture above is one of my favorites - just because of the hills and the way the clouds and sky accents the trees. I can pass by every morning and it looks totally different but yet it's exactly the same.

I find myself looking at everything a whole different way. I'm like a child seeing new things -- these are things that I have looked at every day for almost 30 years...yet, I am just now paying close enough attention to them and starting to appreciate them. Tiny insignificant things have become a new thing to gawk at like it's brand new. The difference in the clouds from day to day, the color of the sky each evening, totally irrelevant things that I have come to love and look forward to each day.

I have God, my husband and kids, my family, my friends, and my photography. And that may just be all I will ever need.

Just a Start

I have a growing interest in photography and am especially drawn to weather/nature subjects and am partial to B&W subject photos. I'm not sure why but these just seem to draw me in when I'm working on pictures.

These are just a start. I am hoping to develop my skills and eventually seek out a professional photographer to work with so I can learn and get experience in the photography field.
